Some Verses for Reflection

Reflection on the Concept of Faith

Proverbs 3:5-6  - Put all your hope in God, not looking to your reason for support. In all your ways give ear to him, and he will make straight your footsteps.

Hebrews 11:6  - And without faith it is not possible to be well-pleasing to him, for it is necessary for anyone who comes to God to have the belief that God is, and that he is a rewarder of all those who make a serious search for him.

Hebrews 10:38  - But the upright man will be living by his faith; and if he goes back, my soul will have no pleasure in him.

Hebrews 12:2  - Having our eyes fixed on Jesus, the guide and end of our faith, who went through the pains of the cross, not caring for the shame, because of the joy which was before him, and who has now taken his place at the right hand of God's seat of power.

There are many understandings of what is faith, but is there any single correct concept? The Bible, God's word, makes it clear that there is yes and contains the concept of what God requires of us when it comes to faith.

Here are some points to ponder:

_ Biblical faith is not some isolated experience of the past and not just a theory. It is alive, real and can live it perfectly in today's times.

_ Biblical faith is a perception (and belief) spiritual greatness and power of God. It is a perceived recognition of our failures and limitations before the infinite and wonderful greatness of God. It is by faith that we recognize the salvation proposed by God through His Son Jesus Christ and as without filling of grace and power of Christ we are nothing. It is by faith that we come to worship God.

_ Act by faith sometimes involve decisions that do not respect human logic, but they are always 100% consistent with the word of God. This act should always be guided by God.

_ Faith is a spiritual gift and generated Jesus in us. So it does not come from a mental effort nor an applied theory. Anyone can have this faith independent of their intellectual or economic condition.

_ The main reason of faith is not to satisfy our needs and yes, reveal the greatness and the power of God.

_ God wants Christians learn to live by faith, that is, the Christian must live in a different way from the man who hasn't to Christ. This way of life must be by faith.

_ A new way of living; to live only by faith is the challenge of the Christian

_ Other factors interfere in our perceptions, attitudes and decisions, but for the God, faith must be the largest and main base of life, that is, in all areas of our lives we to base our perception and action by faith.

_ Living by faith does not mean you should not use good judgment and reasoning, but that all these perceptions may not ever walk alone, because the final word will always be God's

_ The Christian in his walk will live several situations and challenges where your faith will be tested, proven and improved.

_ We can grow in faith through our pursuit of living communion with Jesus. Through this fellowship you will experience:

• Live (see, feel, decide, act) from the centrality of Christ in your heart. Recognition of his lordship in your life.
• Primarily have the strength, wisdom, motivation and joy coming of Christ
• Having God's guidance as a basis for decisions in life

Conclusion: There are many existing definitions of faith the world, but biblically the concept of faith is basically the recognition of the following:

·        Our weaknesses and limitations as a human being and that we are nothing without God

·        Jesus is the truth of God and the fullness of life
·        This faith is a gift that comes from God and Jesus is the author of our faith in our hearts. We can ask Jesus to increase and strengthen our faith in our hearts
